Biography
Allan worked his way through Ohio State University as a newspaper reporter and photographer. He received his undergraduate degree in History and then received his J.D. degree from the College of Law of Ohio State. While in law school, he worked one summer as an intern in the Office of the Chief Counsel of the Internal Revenue Service.

Allan served in the United States Army, with service in Vietnam. After graduating from Ohio State, Allan accepted a position with a New York City law firm that specialized in the practice of bankruptcy law. He moved to New York, where he was admitted to practice.

After establishing his own practice, Allan served for a time as a Trustee in Chapter 7 bankruptcy cases in the Eastern District. He was also a member of the Nassau County Bar Association, where he delivered programs on bankruptcy law during the change to the Bankruptcy Code of 1978.

Allan's practice in Forest Hills, New York, which is in Queens County, one of the boroughs of New York City, is concentrated in consumer bankruptcy law and consumer law issues. As part of his practice, Allan applies what he learned at Max Gardner's 2006 Bankruptcy Boot Camp to assist his clients in new ways. He also represents clients in divorces and probate matters.

Allan attended the Orlando Bankruptcy Practice Workshop in September 2005, sponsored by the National Association of Consumer Bankruptcy Attorneys (NACBA), and the NACBA New Orleans convention this past May.

Allan is an avid hiker, and his goal is to traverse the entire length of the Appalachian Trail as it passes through New York and New Jersey - just not all at once.
